Blue Sakura is a lighting collection developed in collaboration with Anglepoise to celebrate their 90th anniversary. The project explores light as both a functional and atmospheric element, aligning with the brand’s “abandon darkness” ethos.
Inspired by the fleeting beauty of sakura blossoms, the collection reimagines them in an unexpected blue palette, creating a subtle sense of otherworldliness. This shift in colour reflects the transitional quality of spring and the gradual return of light.
Designed for a series of lamp shades, the prints were produced on transparent paper, referencing traditional Japanese material use and allowing light to diffuse softly through the designs. Risograph techniques further connect the work to Japanese print culture, enhancing the layered, delicate quality of the collection.
